Laser Hair Removal
Laser is the most effective form of hair removal and the most permanent method. There is a permanent reduction of hair each time the laser is used. Usually an average of 4 to 6 treatments at 1-2 month intervals are necessary to remove most of the hairs. Approximately 85% are removed after a series of treatments and touch up treatments may be required at less frequent intervals. The hair remaining is usually finer and lighter than what was originally removed. The laser only works on dark hairs and the darker and thicker the hair, the better it works.
The laser produces an intense burst of light that is absorbed by the hair follicle without causing damage to the surrounding tissue. The cold handpiece used during the treatment reduces the discomfort. A mild sting or pinch may be felt similar to the snap of a rubber band.
The alternatives to laser such as shaving, waxing and depilatory creams and electrolysis are all temporary methods which must be continually repeated on a regular basis.
